Agriculture: Algerian, Qatari operators meet to look into cooperation opportunities

A delegation of Algerian economic operators met, Wednesday in Doha, with the managers of “Hassad Food” group, specialized in farm products, under the chairmanship of Minister of Trade Said Djellab, to examine partnership and cooperation opportunities.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the “Hospitality & Food” fair, held in Doha from 6 to 8 November, with the participation of Algeria as guest of honor.

Economic operators have looked into the possibilities of establishing a partnership between Algeria and Qatar, especially since Algeria is now considered a gateway to the African market.

Mr. Djellab highlighted, during the meeting, the importance of strengthening trade with the Qatari side as part of the Government’s strategy to diversify non-hydrocarbon exports and reduce the volume of imports.

Algeria is working, said the minister, to make investments with Qatari partners in the fields of livestock feed production, cereals, meat and poultry, which represent great opportunities for investors in Algeria.

For their part, the leaders of the group “Hassad Food” have expressed their interest in Algerian dates.

In addition to Algerian officials, the meeting was attended by the Vice President of the “Hassad Food” group, Ali Hallal Al-Kuyari, the executive director of commercial relations of the “Hassad-Food” group, Moubarek Rached Al-Sahoudi, and group executives.
